Transforming Government since 2001

Government is doing all it can to ensure Zambians have access to advanced technology through the e-government project and digital migration, Minister of Communications, Works and Transport Yamfwa Mukanga has said.

“This, in turn, gives additional revenue to Government through income tax… As we launch this new product – the Samsung S6 – I urge you to move with technology. Let us migrate and be among the best. As a country, we cannot be left behind,” Mr Mukanga said at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 on Friday night.

He said Samsung Zambia is contributing to the growth of the economy by developing local distributors who are bringing in their products, thus improving the tax revenue.

Mr Mukanga said the company is also directly and indirectly creating employment for Zambians through distributors who are on record for having created over 800 jobs.

He said the selection of Zambia to be among a few countries to host simultaneous launch events of the product reaffirms Government’s conviction that the country is an important market for Samsung.

“It symbolises Samsung’s commitment to bringing into the country original, high class and top of the range products that are accessible to people who believe that quality products are the best,” he said.

Earlier, Samsung Zambia managing director James You said the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have set a new benchmark for design, craftsmanship and performance.

“I believe that Samsung has an important role to play in advancing technology in our daily lives…We do not talk about what might be possible tomorrow. We make it happen today,” Mr You said.
