The National ICT Policy Project began last year within the Ministry of Communications, Aviation & Information Technology (‘MCAIT’), with support from the World Bank and technical assistance by Dr Andrew Simpson.
“We are consulting widely,” says Dr Simpson, “with the aim of obtaining views and comments from the broadest possible range of people, groups and businesses in Solomon Islands.”
A “Broadcasting Policy Issues Paper” was published last October, and the deadline for providing comments has been extended to the end of January.
The Broadcasting Issues Paper is available on the Project website at: www.ICTSolomons.info.
A draft National Broadcasting Policy and an ICT Issues Paper will also be published on the website, as the Project progresses.
“It is important for members of the public, community groups and businesses to have their say on broadcasting and ICT issues,” said Dr. Simpson.
“By providing their comments, individuals and organizations will help to ensure that policy and regulation meet their needs in the years ahead.”
The National ICT Policy Project can also be followed via the Project’s twitter account: @ICTSolomons.
