Johann Mittheisz, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the city of Vienna, has been leading the development of this open government strategy.
Currently, the city of Vienna already has comprehensive eGovernment resources with nearly 600 pages for the exchange of information between authorities and a number of electronic services. There are, for example, more than 180 online ways to submit an application and a city map with more than 120 layers. Layers are subject-specific contents, such as the identification of pharmacies, kindergartens and one-way streets. The open government resources are being constantly expanded and they are available at www.wien.gv.at.
International and national experiences are also taken into consideration. The city of Vienna, with its comprehensive eGovernment initiatives has contributed to the nomination of Austria as the 2010 European leader in eGovernment for the umpteenth time.
