On site online and real-time consultation findings run with Scytl technology show an 86% support for the implementation of online voting as a new voting channel for expatriate and overseas voters in all European member states.

During the YEPP Summer School 2015 held this July in Barcelona, Europe´s next generation of politicians and future influencers were able to participate real-time in an online consultation run with Scytl Online Voting to gauge their level of confidence and views on leveraging secure and verifiable online voting channels across Europe. Key findings resulting from representatives from 30 countries casting their vote and an 86% participation rate included:

  • 86% support the implementation of online voting as a new voting channel for expatriate and overseas voters in all European member states.
  • 46% believe voting online in European Parliament Elections would do the most to strengthen their feeling of participating in the Democratic process in the European Union.
  • 53% support enabling their voices being heard via eDemocracy technology at European Union levels to help their feeling of participation in the Democratic process.
  • If they were to exercise their right to use online voting, 44% would do so for Referendums and 36% would do so for European Elections.
