Projects from Poland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Ireland have carried off the EU e-government awards

The awards ceremony formed part of the EU Ministerial e-Government Conference in Manchester on 24 November 2005. There were organised by the European Institute of Public Administration.

The prize for Enabling e-Government: the right environment went to the Complex Computer System for the Social Insurance Institution (KSIZUS) in Poland.

This system makes it possible to submit documents on social insurance by secure email, a method that has attracted over 75% of payees.

A Danish project, Electronic Invoicing in Denmark, won the prize for Transformation: government readiness. It was established by the country's Ministry of Finance and has provided savings of over €120m per year.

The prize for Business and Citizens: service use went to Kadaster Online from the Netherlands. This compiles data about registered properties which is made available through public registers and digital maps.

Finally, the prize for Impact went to the Irish Revenue Online Service. This provides a free internet facility for secure online revenue related transactions.
