Transforming Government since 2001
Berlin's Point of Single Contact (PSC) is a regional-level portal that provides a step-by-step guide to European entrepreneurs who seek for information, advice and support on the federal state's administrative procedures that are required for doing business in Berlin.

Complying with the EU's 'Services Directive' (Directive 2006/123/EC of 12 December 2006 on services in the internal market), all 16 German regions (referred to as the 'federal states' of Germany) have established their own PSC in a pan-European effort to guide entrepreneurs through the paper work and thus, facilitate cross-border trade and boost the economy of the country.

Based on the unique situation of each individual federal state, PSCs are made available either at a state, county or chamber level. In the federal state of Berlin, the PSC is located at the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women's Issues. In addition to being a contact and information point for businesses in Berlin, the PSC also provides information about all the necessary administrative procedures within the state.

In the area of information and consulting services, the PSC in Berlin cooperates with the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts and the Confederation of German Trade Unions in Berlin and Brandenburg and provides support during the process of starting, consolidating, expanding and running a business.

Furthermore, the portal provides additional information about how to do business in Berlin and gives access to the relevant administrative procedures online. In any case, entrepreneurs may always refer directly to the relevant authorities or additionally to a number of state-level institutions for any further support they may need during all the stages of the business cycle.
