The country has been producing more than 3,000 ICT graduates every year, he said in a programme organised by Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) here in the capital today. “It is the responsibility of the government and private sector to provide employment opportunities to these graduates.”
The country should tap into the possibility of Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), he said. “Embracing emerging technologies, increased customer-centricity, deepening focus on new markets, and adopting new business models will help the ICT industry flourish.”
The country should take advantage of its neighbours — India and China — to utilise ICT as a high revenue generating business, said Bhattarai, adding that professionals from the country should also tap opportunities from its neighbouring economic giants.
The government and private sector should work hand in hand for a speedy growth in ICT, he opined. “The ministry is positive about introducing conducive policies for the growth of the ICT sector.”
