Expensive, long and uncertain is the process of e-government implementation since all competent institutions should participate in implementation, said Dragan Nikolic, member of the Task Force that has prepared the
National Strategy for Development of Information Society. The Strategy and the Action Plan was adopted by the Macedonian Parliament last week, and it is expected to move Macedonia towards knowledge-based economy, said the Task Force members. Infrastructure, e-business, e-government, e-education, e-health, e-citizens and legislation for development of information society are the seven pillars of the National Strategy.
Despite the Task Force members admit that it will be difficult for the project to be realised, they generally agree that by achieving main objectives of the strategy Macedonia will have increased number of internet users, e-services for the citizens, and the cultural, historical and archaeological heritage will be digitalised.
They stressed that among major advantages of the information society is implementing electronic health care and the system for electronic ID card projects predicted with the National Strategy.
