The government of Bangladesh with financial assistance of World Bank (WB) is implementing the project, which has also potential to create up to another 30,000 jobs.
The revenue of IT and ITES industry is expected to be increased by over US$ 200 million by the end of the initiative, said a WB press release on Thursday.
The project has been launched to enhance the growth of Bangladesh's IT/ITES industry for employment generation and export diversification. It also aims to establish basic e-Government foundations to support public sector modernisation.
The World Bank is providing US$ 63.52 million for the Project, scheduled to be closed on December 2017.
A recent World Bank and the Government team jointly reviewed the progress and noted that key activities of the project are already contracted, in the process of contract finalisation or initial phase of implementation. The World Bank also urged to make BCC's Project Coordination Unit (PCU) effective.
