The United Nations has assessed the activities as part of an electronic governance project in Azerbaijan to look into the extent of compliance with freedom of speech and human rights, as well as transparency in the government's activity.

The UN Development Program released its report entitled "E-Governance in Azerbaijan: UNDP's contribution to promoting transparency and accountability in public administration" in Baku on Thursday. Minister for communications and information technologies Ali Abbasov said in his opening speech that electronic public administration greatly contributes to fighting corruption and setting up new mass media in the country. He said e-governance projects have a measurable impact in bringing about reform of Azerbaijan's public sector.

A ceremony of presentation of the UNDP e-Governance project in Azerbaijan was held in Grand Hotel Europe” in Baku on October 6. Opening the event, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov spoke of the applying modern communication technologies in the country in the framework of the global integration processes.
