The minister said ICT will be taught from early childhood to university. The minister was speaking at Imale School in Makueni during the launchof the Multi Choice Resource Centres.
The ceremony was attended by the company's regional director Stephen Isaboke, director of secondary education Robert Masese and the Makueni county director of education Kamau Gatheru.
Multi Choice Kenya has established 25 resource centres in public schools. "The resource centres will benefit 150 institutions across the country," Isaboke said.
Under the initiative, public secondary schools are provided with digital satellite technology and free access to the DSTV education, which includes seven documentaries, educational and current affairs channels.
"We started with the ICT economic stimulus programme which has so far equipped 1427 secondary schools with ICT tools in a Usaid supported programme," said Mutula.
He said that his ministry has launched the National ICT Innovation and Integration Centre in 2011 which is testing and developing innovative solutions for use in our schools. The minister said the new technologies are tested before they are used in learning institutions.
Kilonzo said the Kenya Institute of Education will develop the digital content. He said the use of ICT is in line with Vision 2030. Mutula said ICT will equip learners with modern skills.
