Transforming Government since 2001
Value Added Tax (VAT) on computer equipment, parts and accessories will be zero-rated, Finance Minister Amos Kimunya has said.

This, Kimunya said, was aimed at fast-tracking the growth and development of the country’s Information Communications and Technology (ICT) subsector.

He said the move is expected to create more employment opportunities and to strategically position the country as a regional leader in ICT.

He said the Government would invest heavily in e-governance, training, ICT research and development. Last year, former finance minister David Mwiraria, said there was need to develop the ICT sector.

Liberalisation of the ICT sector has led to competitive prices, which have promoted greater usage of the Internet and related services.
