Transforming Government since 2001
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce is installing electronic services machines at a number of shopping complexes across the country so consumers can key in complaints and comments.

A screen in the machine will display guidelines for consumers, understandably in English and Arabic, to make them aware of their rights. The machine might also display warnings, a list of banned items and possibly price lists of some items of daily use.

The ministry said the idea was to cut down on paperwork and establish direct communication with consumers, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported yesterday.

The e-services machines would replace complaint boxes at various malls, hypermarkets and other outlets, installed by the Consumer Protection Department (CPD), which operates under the ministry.

Consumer complaints could relate to what they see as a violation of the provisions of the consumer protection law and various ministerial decisions.
