The Qatar health ministry’s Medical Commission is planning to throw open online medical test registration to all individuals.

Presently, the service is restricted to companies. Employees seeking a medical check-up are registered online and appointments are scheduled.

According to Dr Ibrahim Al Shaar, director, Medical Commission, the department is looking at expanding the service to include more categories in the next two months. In the initial phase, the service would be made available to certain categories of professionals and food handlers. Food handlers or people working with restaurants and similar outlets are required to undergo the tests every year while seeking a renewal of their health certificates.

The online service is now available to all the companies registered with the e-government. Individuals holding the new smart ID cards would also be able to use it through the e-government portal.

Online registration will help reduce the crowds lining up for appointments at the Medical Commission.
