Transforming Government since 2001
H.H. Shaikh Abdulla Bin Nasser Bin Khalif Al Thani, Minister of Internal Affairs, christened the Milipol 2006 exhibition by releasing the new version of the Ministry of Interior's website (www.moi.gov.qa).

H.H. said that under the auspices of H.E. Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and in light of the expedited advancement of the world of information technology, the world has become one comprehensive paradigm, and in order to keep up with this fast-pace world, it is a must to utilize the most advanced technologies and communication facilities, which in turn has turned the world into a global village. To keep up with this advancement, the Ministry of Interior re-produced its website in a new version that provides locals and expatriates alike with a whole host of traditional services in a modern high-tech delivery medium, which serves to save time, money, and energy for the users.

The website is nearly a complete virtual representation of the actual ministry. It is divided into clear-to-see easy-to-access sections. The first section of the site provides information about the Ministry of Interior and lists all authorities, departments, subsections, and divisions under the ministry. The second section of the site is for locals and their services. The third sections is dedicated to the service of expatriots. The fourth, and last, section is prospective visitors who might need information about visa issuance and other legal regulation matters prior to their visit.

The most important feature of the new version of the site is that fact that it's divided into divisions and departments to allow visitors to use the new services without much complication. Each authority and committee under the ministry has its dedicated section on the site. The site is like a network of smaller sites each standing for its perspective authority/committee.

Moreover, the site is directly linked to the E-Government website, which makes it easier for visitors to finish most government-related business via one quick tour through the sites.

Colonel Saleh Khamis Ghanem Al Kobaisy, Information Systems manager at the Ministry of Interior, said that the new re-release of the site includes the eSMS service which allows for automatic notification to the citizen/expatriate of legal documents' processing phases. Mr. Al Kobaisy added that the Information Systems Authority has a dedicated team for the maintenance and running of the site in cooperation with Afkar Information Technology.

Mr. Mamoun Eregat, the Business Development Manager at Afkar Information Technology, the company which developed and implemented the website, said that it was an honor for the company to have been trusted with developing the first edition of the website, and it's an even bigger honor to be trusted with the second edition of the site. For this reason, Mr. Eregat says, Afkar Information Technology has dedicated a special team from amongst its staff especially for the ministry's site.
