Tunisia has demonstrated its desire to become a more democratic and open country and sees information technology as a means to achieve that goal, Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet said in a release.
According to Paet, Tunisia has made it a priority to strive towards e-governance, as new technologies can help increase transparency and combat corruption.
As part of the project, the e-Governance Academy will soon conduct a training session in Estonia for 15 of Tunisia's highest-level state officials, introducing the various IT-solutions implemented by the country. The Tunisian officials will also have the opportunity to start developing their own projects with the help of Estonian experts.
Estonia currently participates in a similar project being carried out in Belarus.
