Eng. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Soma, Yesser's Director General, pointed out that community participation is a style of work adopted by the Kingdom's government long ago. The workshop sought to reinforce channels of communications between government agencies and stakeholders using electronic and easy-to-use tools, he added.
He said that many government agencies have already distinctive experiences in e-Participation such as; the Public's opinions surveys, direct communications with persons in charge in addition to blogs, forums and the new e-Media.
Yesser's Director General elaborated the objective behind the workshop. It was envisioned to show government agencies the latest trends in e-Participation, said Al-Soma. The workshop included a guiding document about latest trends adopted by e-Government agencies worldwide. A number of government agencies Directors, related Departments managers participated and commented on the workshop and the guiding document. This included departments of corporate communications, media and public relations, social media, IT and strategic planning
The workshop illustrated the concept of e-Participation and how to actively enable citizens to participate in improving the processes of government services.
Covering issues relating to e-Participation security, the workshop showed a set of mechanisms on how government agencies workers should use social media networks. It also showed how to manage the public's official participations and the tasks of the related work teams.
