Transforming Government since 2001
The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has launched 'HIFZ', which specializes in data storage and protection from disasters, as a new and additional service to the academic, research and government agencies in the Kingdom.

Dr. Hisham Saleh Bin Abbas, the supervisor of the Internet services unit, said that the service is designed to enable users of the KACST website, from academic and research institutions, to save the data of their backup copies for reference in case of an emergency.

640 research proposals

KACST's e-Services portal has received more than 640 research proposals in different fields that would serve national development.

The proposals were presented by researchers from different universities, colleges and research centers and institutions around the country.

Dr. Omar Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Musnad, Supervisor of the General Directorate of Research Grants in the City, said the research proposals are considered "an advanced accomplishment of the application of e-Government. Researchers can update their information and research experiences via gdrg.kacst.edu.sa".

He said the website provides researchers information on the directorate, its goals and services for researchers electronically, as well as the ability to register CVs.

It also provides them with research program subjects and priorities, which helps researchers draw up their proposals, and with information on the directorate's symposiums, conferences and scientific meetings.
