As of today the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communication, Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Road Infrastructure Agency and Air Traffic Department can send and receive their correspondence electronically.
The event was attended by Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Economy Minister Traycho Traykov, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Lilyana Pavlova, European funds management minister Tomislav Donchev, Justice Minister Diana Kovacheva, Healthcare Minister Stefan Konstantinov, Social Policy Minister Totyu Mladenov and director of National Health Insurance Fund Neli Nesheva.
The electronic exchange of documents will save time, enhance administrative efficiency and reduce administration’s expenses. According to the government this is one of the first serious steps to make up for the recent years’ delay of e-government. After the launch of the system the transport ministry solely will save at least BGN 300,000 annually from couriers who deliver documents manually.
The prime minister said the new, web-based system would make it evident whether the public administration works.
According to the most pessimistic forecast the administration will save BGN 400,000 annually, or BGN 2 million in the five above mentioned units.
