Transforming Government since 2001
EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn was impressed by the Administration Reforms Ministry plans for e-government and defined them as “revolutionary”, the ministry press office announced on Wednesday.

Rehn met with the Administration Reforms Minister Nikolay Vasilev and EU Affairs Minister Meglena Kuneva on Tuesday in Brussels.

The commissioner was introduced with the urgent measures of the action plan the Bulgarian government approved.

There have been more than 10,000 officials who were specially trained and more than 1,800 personal computers have been provided for the local administrations, Vasilev said. Bulgaria has also approved the Law for e-commerce and the ministry also works on a law for the e-government.

The major themes of the talks were transparency and fight against corruption, the Bulgarian National Radio added. Computers are to be delivered to the judicial system structures and border checkpoint.

This is the most decisive phase of the EU membership preparation, Rehn said and wished Bulgarian authorities successful work.
