The servers for the "Sistem Maklumat Islam Fasa 1" (SisMI Phase 1) or Islamic Information System Phase I for the Ministry of Religious Affairs were presented by its contractor, HakbaSkali Sdn Bhd yesterday morning.

Witnessing the ceremony was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Abd Rahman bin Hj Mohiddin who was also the chief guest. SisMi is one of the e-government projects implemented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs that will link the ministry with its departments and also the public. It will include c-Islam Information Kiosk, Zakat Management System, i-Darasah, i-Masjid and SisMI Phase II 'the whole ofthe e-government projects is estimated to cost about $40 million.

In a speech- by the Head of the Information Technology Centre at the Mi misty of Religious Affairs, Awg Hj Abu Bakar bin Hj Mohd Don, he said that the SisMI project is one of the development programmes for Islamic Application and Database.

The project will link all the departments under the Ministry of Religious Affairs as well as other Government ministries through its web base application.

The Application and Database will be operated and controlled through a server located at the Ministrs- of Religious Affairs. It was these servers that were officially handed over to the ministry yesterday.

Awg Hj Abu Bakar father added that to allocate the implementation strategy for the SisMI project, its Project Committee has been divided into five groups.

Each group will be responsible for different tasks such as Organizational Research, System Development, Training, Knowledge Exchange, Installation of Equipment and Data Management.

The six Dell servers complete with its software system and database was presented; by the Executive Chairman of HakbaSkali Sdn Bbd. Major (B) Hj Adanan bin Dato Hulubalang Hj Abd Wahab to the Director of Islamic Dakwah Centre and also the CoAdvisor for the SisMI Project Phase 1, Dyg Hjh Zasia bte Sirin.

The SisMI Project Phase 1 is estimated to cost about B$1.3 million and is expected to he fully operational in August 2005.
