The deal will see the implementation of e-service infrastructure over a period of six months at the ministry and related departments.
The deal, which will ensure the public reach the ministry and its departments, will exactly cost $10,696,977. As countries around the world are moving towards e-government, Brunei has showed that it is not far behind as most of the ministries in His Majesty's government are taking advantage of the services and keeping abreast with the latest technology.
E-Government remains cost-effective and improves the efficiency of the government machinery.
It also brings the people closer to government departments and helps avail themselves of the services electronically.
Signing on behalf of the ministry was Pehin Dato Awg Hj Abdullah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, while Managing Director Pg Hj Md Zain signed for DST Group, with Pehin Dato.Awg Hj Zakaria, the Minister of Communications, as the witness.
The project, amongst others, is to set up a comprehensive service infrastructure for both the ministry and its related departments aimed at reaching the public. This is to encourage the public to use the services electronically.
This is also to encourage the civil servants to update themselves with the current technology that is in line with the IT development, which is in compliance with the amended policy of e-Government.
With the e-MinCom Portal Services, the ministry will be able to realise the Service Hub For Trade and Tourism (ShuTT), which is to connect the Sultanate to the global "for community through an information system portal.
