The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) will soon be able to integrate all data in a single database enabling law enforcers to have every bit of information on cases around the country at their fingertips.

RBPF and ITIS Wescot Technology Sdn Bhd, the company assigned to undertake the task, yesterday signed the contract to develop the Advanced Records Management System for the police force.

Signing of behalf of RBPF was SAC Hj Majid Hj Damit, director of administration and finance. Managing director Louis Lim signed on behalf of ITIS Wescot Technology.

The contract worth $3.95 million is part of the e-Government project initiated under the 9th National Development Plan.

The ceremony yesterday was witnessed by Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Hj Hasrin Dato Paduka Hj Sabtu, Acting Commissioner of RBPF.

A short presentation on the establishment of the Advanced Records Management System by a representative of ITIS Wescot Technology was delivered during the event yesterday.

The system, estimated to be ready in about a year, will automate current manual processes within the police force as well as provide high quality information readily and efficiently to support informed decision making, evaluation and planning.

Hoi Chong of ITIS Wescot Technology also said that the system will be able to enhance control and effectiveness of the overall police services and communications as well as support e-Government initiatives through web-based and open architecture which will allow for more efficient interaction between RBPF and other agencies. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
