Vehicle registration, renewal of vehicle licence and renewal of driving licence can now be done online by the public through the Land Transport Department (LTD) e-Services system called the Land Transport System or "Sistem Pengangkutan Darat" (SPD), which is part of the e-Government initiatives.

The e-Government National Centre (EGNC), Prime Minister's Office, said the SPD portal will also enable motor dealers to submit vehicle-related applications online on behalf of their customers without having to submit physical documents to the LTD.

With SPD, car dealers and transportation services companies will enjoy wider and more convenient access to LTD services, including applications for vehicle body type approval, vehicle registration (single/batch approval), modification approval, new vehicle registration book, vehicle permits, vehicle registration, as well as managing the renewal of vehicle insurance policies.

In addition, the portal is also aimed at serving the following government agencies: Vehicle enquiries, driver's licence enquiries, blacklisted vehicles, blacklisted drivers, and traffic offence enquiries.

The e-Government National Centre (EGNC) said, the SPD supports the -e-Government initiative towards customer-oriented services.

With the advent of the Internet, things have been simplified as it has immensely transcended from merely being a medium of communication to a means of facilitating online services. Online facilities to date has benefited from the convenience of choosing the time to pay for certain facilities at anytime of the day. Unlike counter services, customers have to queue up and settle the necessary bills within the stipulated period of counter opening hours.

Through this portal, the department offers the public a single point of contact between the government and the people it serves.

Registration for SPD usage is now open to the public. Businesses, government agencies and the general public may inquire more information about SPD by accessing the following web-address: https://www.pengangkutan-darat.gov.bn.

Completed forms can be sent via e-mail with the attachments or submitted directly to the following address: Level 1, Information Technology Section, Land Transport Department Headquarters, Jalan Gadong, Beribi BE 1110, Brunei Darussalam, or e-mail: Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! Zur Anzeige muss JavaScript eingeschaltet sein!.

The attachments required upon submission are a passport-sized photograph, photocopy of the identification card, driver's licence and vehicle registration book where relevant.

With the move towards electronic transactions, the LTD will also no longer issue vehicle registration cards, more commonly known as the 'blue-card', instead a new vehicle registration book will be issued.

In addition, new formats of driver's licences and vehicle licences will also be issued correspondingly. The department also intends to introduce enquiries services via SMS whereby the public will be able to enquire on the expiry dates of their vehicle or drivers' licences.
