Discussions were held on the need for cooperation, and to raise professionalism and commitment among the agencies. This is in order to manage issues related to the materialisation of an e-government.
The meeting also stressed the importance of the role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at every ministry to make their individual programme and e- projects a success.
EGLF is a platform to meet at the highest level for the sake of discussing the strategic direction of the e-government. This is to accomplish the goals of the government and modernise public service towards satisfying the expectations of the people.
This aspiration is in line with the vision for Brunei 2035, which has been announced and specifically targeted at the ICT sector.
"EGLF has been formed from the organisational change in the structure of the e-government," said Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office Dato Seri Paduka Haji Eusoff Agaki bin Hj Ismail, in his capacity as chairman and 'executive owner' of the e-government initiative in Brunei Darussalam.
The deputy minister has appealed for full commitment and cooperation from the ministry for the materialisation of programmes and e-government projects.
The EGLF membership consists of a permanent secretary from each ministry to form a body, which is known as 'e-Government Technical Authority (EGTAB)' as secretariat to EGLF.
EGTAB has been in operation since October 1, 2007 and functions as a full-time body, which has regulatory powers and acts as a 'technical think-tank' with expertise in managing e-government projects.
At the same time, EGTAB also aims to help in planning human resource in the field of ICT and guiding the private sector in developing the nation's ICT industry.
