Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Hj Awg Mohd Mandi POKDSD Dato Laila Utama Hj Awg Abd Rahman yesterday officiated and witnessed the E-Government Contract Signing between the Fire & Rescue Services Department and a local established bumiputra ICT firm Alif Technoloaies.

The event, held at the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong, also saw the attendance of senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Fire and Rescue Services Department, ITPSS and Alif Technologies.

Yesterday's signing ceremony between the two parties was to provide a turnkey solution for the Fire and Rescue Services Department in upgrading their system to the next level of technology.

This system will replace the current manual dispatching with a state of the art Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) and Automatic Vehicle Tracking System.

The manual paper based records management system will be replaced by an electronic recorded one and is expected to be operational in April 2008.

Acting Director of Fire and Rescue Services Department, Awg Yahya Hj Abd Rahman in his welcoming speech pointed out that under this new system, it will assist the department to produce emergency services of high quality by using the CADs, Geographical Information System (GIS) and the Automatic Vehicle Location System.

Through the integration of these systems, the department wilt is able to collect a more complete and accurate information from the emergency calls received. With the new methods available through this system, emergency actions can be executed efficiently by upgrading the productivity and efficiency of the department to the general public.

In this regards, the department will be implementing a "Business Process Re-engineering" system by taking into account the human resource factor and at the same time, the department will make intensive efforts to upgrade its personnel professionalism level in line with the department's vision, mission and objectives by increasing the internal capabilities particularly in the aspect of knowledge, skills, technology and equipment.

Signing on behalf of the government of Brunei Darussalam at the contract signing was the Acting Director himself while Acting Deputy Director, Awg Lim Hock Guan signed as the witness.

Representing Alif Technologies was its Chairman and CEO, Pg Mohammad Pg Hj Kamaludin and technical consultant Basil Mathew George signed as the witness.

Alif Technologies is a leading ICT firm here and is one of the few Bruneian companies with overseas presence and may be the only Bruneian ICT Company that has established a software development centre in India.
