Transforming Government since 2001
The Ministry of Education has acquired a paperless system for data and event management as part of the e-government implementation project.

The ministry has awarded Brunei-based Sprintville Technologies a contract for the deployment and support of a knowledge management system called Avant Werx Smart Enterprise Suite.

The contract-signing ceremony between the ministry and Sprintville Technologies was held at the Orchid Garden Hotel yesterday.

The Director of Information and Communication Technologies, Haji Abdul Ghani bin Haji Omar, represented the ministry while company director Hj Yahya Che'man represented Sprintville Technologies.

At the ceremony, Hj Yahya expressed his thanks to the government for having confidence in the company in the design, implementation and maintenance of the system.

``We can assure the ministry that the company with the support of Avant Werx and Fujitsu Asia will deliver within budget, timeline and meet specification,'' he said.

A knowledge management system is an extensive software package that centralises the storage, processing and dissemination of information.

Prerequisites for modern knowledge management systems are built-in workflow capabilities, an integrated search engine, and a universal portal or electronic gateway to unify applications used in the workplace.

The application suite from SprintVille Technologies also includes sophisticated real-time auditing for security and documentation purposes.

The hardware infrastructure will be supplied by Fujitsu Asia.

Some of the elements that will be developed under this project includes exam management tips, which is intended to engage teachers and students in active participation and the posting relevant-subject material and information.

This would allow students to acquire techniques and tips for exam preparation.
