As part of a continued effort to push forward the implementation of the e-Government project, "e-Health", another contract has been signed between His Majesty's Government - represented by the Ministry of Health - and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

The implementation of the $210,000 consultancy services is expected to be completed within a three-month timeline.

Yesterday's contract signing ceremony, which was held at the premises of the Ministry of Health, saw Dr Hj Sablee bin Hj Aspar, Director of Healthcare Technology Department, and Mr Lee Kin Chee, Managing Partner of Pricewaterhouse Coopers, signing the agreement.

It was learnt that Pricewaterhouse Coopers is being engaged as a consultant to assist the Ministry of Health in their study of requirements for Information Communications Technology (ICT) in the Health Services Department and identifying potential areas in the Medical Services Department and Health Services Department that can utilise TeleHealth technologies to improve the current service delivery as well as to conduct a study on the requirements and propose of a model for TeleHealth in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, Pricewaterhouse Coopers will be responsible for conducting a study on the requirements for information systems in all sections in the Health Department, namely Community Health Services, Environmental Health Services and Laboratory Scientific Services.

Among the services that will be involved in this project for the Community Health Services include outpatient Services Department; Health Promotion and Education; School Health; Community Nutrition; Psychology; Maternal; Child Health Care; Immunisation; and District Health.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr Hjh Rahmah bte Hj Md Said, Acting Director of Environmental Health Department, and Mr Suresh Marimuthu, a partner of Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

Present as guest of honour was Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Awg Yusof bin Amba. At the end of the ceremony, Mr Lee Kin Chee presented a souvenir to the guest of honour.
