Under the e-government initiatives, ministries are now perusing the implementation of their agency services to help the public, said Minister of Communications Pehin Dato Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong .

The 3Es refer to e-Government, e-Education and e-Health, he said during a seminar, "Driving The 3Es To Go Beyond Just Database," facilitated by Oracle and organised by TechnoNet Sdn Bhd.

Government, education and health solutions experts highlighted ways in which e-Government adoption can improve citizen services, increase visibility and accountability in public sector finances, boost human resource management capabilities, and enhance public services for citizens.

He expressed the need for local vendors to accelerate their learning curve in developing applications to serve e-government initiatives through partnerships.

"Our local vendors will always act as a desk agent for any e-Government project while all business transactions end overseas. The development of the local ICT industry plays an important role for developing the information and knowledge-based society and economy," he said.

"As the information society gains momentum, this increase in knowledge and experience will help vendors to take the right investment and business decisions which can allow us to benchmark our capabilities among those of the other more advanced and developed countries thus narrowing the digital divide."

Abd Ghani Pg Hj Metussin, Managing Director / CEO of TechnoNet Sdn Bhd, amplified the need for IT companies to collaborate.

"The IT industry is very volatile and highly competitive today. Any IT company can tell you that it is highly improbable to go it alone. This is true now, and will be even more so in the future," he said

TechnoNet Sdn Bhd said it is now an authorised partner of Oracle, the world's leading supplier of software for information management and the world's second largest independent software company.

TechnoNet said it is continuously looking for ways to enhance ICT solutions to deliver superior e-Government solutions.
