Transforming Government since 2001
The e-government fund has allotted P20 million for an internet-based service project that will make available to the business community technologies developed by the Department of Science and Technology and other agencies and assist them to invest in these technologies.

The project, called “One-Stop Information Shop for Mature Technologies in the Philippines," was initiated by the Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research Development (PCIERD). DOST Regional Director Brenda Nazareth said Tuesday the project was endorsed by Secretary Estrella Alabastro to the Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (ITECC) and was approved and incorporated in the e-government portal project of the National Computer Center.

Nazareth said the project will come up with a compendium of mature technologies that will be made available on-line for potential technology adopters and investors.

She said mature technologies are "commerciable" technologies that have undergone technology assessment and are ready for transfer.

With this, clients from the industry or business community and research and development institutes can have access to all the information that will be provided through the compendium, Nazareth said.

Potential investors will be provided with the relevant information needed about a specific technology, she said.

The web-based system will allow the contributors of information to access their data on-line. It will also provide a search facility.

The project, which puts together the efforts of DOST councils and concerned agencies towards technology transfer, is a significant step that will hopefully hasten technology transfer activities because potential investors only need to go on-line and shop for the technology that they wish to invest on and instantly make arrangements with the corresponding agency, she added.
