The Iligan City government has partnered with Mata Technologies Inc. to develop innovative, technology-driven systems aimed at enhancing local governance and public services.
Iligan Mayor Frederick Siao signed a memorandum of agreement with the tech firm on Monday for collaboration on various technology-based projects designed to improve different sectors in the city.
The collaboration aligns with the city’s long-term vision of becoming a smart city, a designation recognized by the Department of Science and Technology.
A smart city is defined as "an innovative urban area that uses technology and innovation to enhance the overall functionality, sustainability, and livability of urban areas, making them more responsive to the needs of their inhabitants and the environment."
“The partnership with Mata Technologies is a crucial part of our development agenda,” Siao said. “This move demonstrates our commitment to modernizing government operations and leveraging technology to better serve the people of Iligan.”
Ericka Sancho, founder of Mata Technologies, emphasized the significance of the partnership, calling it a landmark achievement for the region.
“Few cities and municipalities are as proactive in pursuing technological advancements to improve governance and public services,” she noted.
Mata Technologies is an expert in information and communications technology, specializing in virtual maps and immersive 360-degree virtual tours, which will be integrated into the Iligan’s planned initiatives.
