Lawyer Rey Sumalipao, ARMM election regional director, said all Comelec municipal offices are open for registration five days a week, from Sundays to Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sumalipao, who was implicated in the 2004 Hello Garci recordings that implied massive cheating in behalf of former President Gloria Arroyo against Philippine actor Fernando Poe Jr., said the registration period started May 6 and ends October 31, 2015.
He said the registration is part of the preparation for the May 2016 local and national elections.
Sumalipao noted that early registrants enlisted on first week of the list-up, with the Comelec office serving more than 50 persons a day.
As the day passes by, fewer people register, he said.
”Our appeals remain the same for the public: Go to Comelec offices in their areas and don’t wait for last minute registration,” Sumalipao said in an interview.
He also urged old voters in the region who still have not registered their biometrics data to validate their records so they could vote in the May 2016 elections.
For instance, he said, 50,000 voters in Cotabato City and Isabela City do not have their biometric records at the Comelec.
”If you failed to vote in the last two local and national elections, you are deemed deleted from the list of voters so you need to come and update your record and register under the biometric system,” he said.
He also stressed that those not yet 18 but will turn 18 years old by May 2016 must register biometrically before the list-up ends in October next year.
The Comelec ARMM chief also asked registrants to bring the requirements, especially ID with photo, for faster processing.
