Transforming Government since 2001
Recognizing the prevalence and value of the internet, the city government of San Fernando recently launched an improved version of its official website.

“Since we are now living in a digital world, we want to make information and services available to all our constituents online,” Mayor Edwin Santiago said.

Dexter Dancel, Management Information Technology Division (MITD) head, disclosed that the city’s online portal uses the latest liquid design technology, which allows the screen to adjust and allows visitors to access the website without distortion of texts or links.

“For better and effective viewing experience, the website can adjust automatically on any type of browser, whether via computer or any handheld mobile device. Also, we added social media links and weather bulletin to further enhance the page,” Dancel pointed out.

For his part, Santiago enumerated the website’s prime features such as the Full Disclosure Report, E-procurement page, and the posting of the city’s latest Executive Orders.

Useful features such as the city directory, business name search, tourism page and the virtual tour of the Heroes Hall, news feeds by the City Information Office and online job matching application system can also be accessed in the portal.

Santiago also shared that by the end of the second quarter of 2014, the MITD will introduce its Online Business Permit Application wherein taxpayers can transact with the City Government through the Internet.

“All these enhancements in our official website only proves that we are serious in our efforts to be more transparent,” the city local chief executive concluded.

Now on its initial run and live pilot testing, the website can be accessed via www.cityofsanfernando.gov.ph.
