Transforming Government since 2001
The Information and Communications Technology Council of San Fernando is ready to transform the city as Central Luzon’s information and technology or “IT hub.”

Council president Jim Jimenez made the disclosure during the 1st City ICT Conference at Heroes Hall, where he said the council created by Mayor Oscar Rodriguez in 2007 is now initiating steps that will make the city a central technological hub with ready resources and an expert manpower pool of “techies.”

“This conference is actually the first step of our move to make the City of San Fernando the region’s IT hub. By strengthening IT in the city itself by partnering with other concerned stakeholders, we could provide the necessary services to the private and public sectors need,” Jimenez said.

He told Sun.Star Pampanga interested parties could seek advice from the council to match the needs of industry players like BPOs.

“We are starting to train students, IT graduates and other aspiring ICT people so we can develop that soft infrastructure needed. We want to make them competitive and level up to global standards much that necessary networks to create the hub will be realized soonest,” added Jimenez.

Partners of the ICT Council include the academe, San Fernando Electric Light and Power Company and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company.
