Transforming Government since 2001
The Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) has fully implemented its Internet-based services for professionals and licensure examination applicants.

PRC chairman Teresita Manzala said the “e-Services’ is going full swing, enabling the agency to provide faster, more secure and more cost-efficient frontline services to its clientele.”

These include the online verification of rating, which allows examinees to check their rating or grade in any licensure examination; verification of eligibility system, which enables government entities to verify records of professionals; online verification of room assignment before and during licensure tests; confirmation of academic records from schools whose graduates are about to take the licensure tests; and professional card availability verification, which enables professionals to verify the availability of their PRC cards.

These services are a click away via www.prc.gov.ph.

Manzala added that before the end of this year, PRC expects to process around 480,150 applications with complete documentary and qualification. The agency regulates the practice of 42 professions and serves employers from the government and private sectors seeking certifications and verifying licenses of professionals.

“PRC already processed 449,873 or 94 percent of the expected applications as of end November and tested 82 percent or 360,620 examinees, which was a 2.5 percent increase over the total number of examinees processed in the same period last year or 351,696 examinees,” she said.

The number of professionals who registered stood at 3,293,917 and those who have filed for the renewal of their licenses reached 364,106 as per a PRC report. “With the full operations of PRC 24/7 ‘e-Services’, clients will be able to avail of PRC services easily anytime, anywhere or even within the comfort and convenience of their homes or offices, hastening the delivery of needed services while decongesting its offices of thousands of professionals and licensure examination applicants who transact business with PRC every day."

PRC installed and made available to the public its web applications mid of 2011. “PRC regional offices are now connected to the central database and are utilizing the new online tools for various verification purposes through the PRC’s virtual private network.”

It also launched two other features in its website: the online renewal application system (ORAS) and online verification for Filipino professional (OVFP).

ORAS allows Filipino professionals here and abroad to renew their professional identification cards (PICs) in the comfort of their homes while OVFP provides an automated system, which enables employers and the public to validate the license of a professional.

This month, Manzala said PRC “fashioned out a convenient mechanism that allows examinees and school registrars to submit application for examination over the internet.”

Dubbed the online application system, it allows an automatic validation of data in electronic form and, after payment of fees, generates a notice of admission to the examination.

The newly-developed program is in collaboration the with Commission on Higher Education, which verifies the list of graduates and supporting documents submitted online; and with the Land Bank of the Philippines, which provides a gateway for online payment.
