Transforming Government since 2001
To cope with the global challenge, the Province of Agusan del Norte formally launched the computerization program in some of the municipalities.

In his speech during the launching of e-governance in the municipalities of Jabonga and Tubay, Governor Erlpe John Amante pointed out that since the automation began in January this year, the revenues of the pilot municipalities namely Nasipit, Buenavista, Magallanes, Cabadbaran, Jabonga and Tubay showed a remarkable increase.

"With this computerization project, taxpayers who don't declare the exact remittance are forced to pay the right amount of their taxes that made the revenues of the pilot municipalities increase as high as 20 percent," Gov. Amante said.

The statement of Gov. Amante was supported by Mayor Enrico Corvera of Nasipit saying that their municipality's revenue has improved since the implementation of the project. "In the municipality of Nasipit, our revenue has increased 15 percent as compared to last year", he said.

Meanwhile, Mayor Glicerio Monton, Jr. of Jabonga expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for allowing them to be included as one of the pilot municipalities to undergo the computerization program. "This is really a big help to the constituents of Jabonga because this will lead the officials in providing efficient and fast services to their constituents", Mayor Monton said.

The computerization project is composed of nine features of the provincial government's transactions that are being automated. These include the tax remittance, issuance of all kinds of permits and civil registration systems, among others.
