Transforming Government since 2001
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), with support from the International Development Research Center for Canada (IDRC), is implementing a project, "Learning from Information and communications Technology for Development (ICT4D) to enhance policymaking (Philippines)," with the aim of identifying the transformational impact of ICT on the Philippine society.

The ICT4D project (www.ict4d.ph), in its Grants Program, has supported case study documentation of ICT4D initiatives in the country in the areas of politics/governance empowerment social services (e.g. education, health), economic/livelihood and infrastrucure/access.

However, to get a fuller view of the impact of ICT on Philippine Society, the ICT4D Project Steering Committee is holding a series of roundtable discussions/workshops on the impact of ICT in the areas of indigenous culture; religion and spiritually; arts, culture and heritage; community-based content development; gender; Islam; emergency and disaster; overseas Filipino workers; and the environment.

Thus, on November 23, 2006, the first roundtable discussion/workshop on the impact of ICT on Indigenous Culture will be held at Royal Mandaya Hotel, Davao City. This discussion platform brings together stakeholders in indigenous culture to share information and experiences as they envision the impact of ICT on indigenous culture, as well as present their recommendation to increase appreciation and preservation of our indigenous culture with the help of ICT.
