Nigeria and Turkey are now best buddies on satellite communications
A deal that would allow the Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (Nigcomsat) to deploy telecoms services via satellite has been signed by the company and its Turkish counterpart, the Turkish Satellite Company (Turksat).
The agreement was signed in Ankara, Turkey, by Kazeem Kolawole Raji, executive director of NigComSat and Hasan Huseyin Ertok, vice-president of the Turkish company.
The cooperation between Nigcomsat and Turksat is the improvement of the access of the populations residing in the areas of the continent still under cover and not covered at all, as well as those already covered, by the telephony and the Internet of quality.
In Nigeria in particular, the government, which makes improving access to telecom services a priority, in order to improve the living conditions of the population and boost the national economy, sees the partnership with Turksat as a strategic opportunity.
Beyond providing new satellite services, the alliance also includes spare capacity sharing, satellite communications training, content sharing and satellite application development, particularly in e-government.
