Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the ICT programme at the weekend, the chairman of the Ike Foundation, Senator Ike Ekweremadu said the foundation had taken up the laudable initiative to help transform the society from social exclusion to an all-inclusive society that would guarantee a level playing ground to all.
The deputy Senate President said the project was not political but borne out of his desire to improve the lives of the less-privileged in the society, adding that 700 youths are participating in the programme.
He enjoined the youths to make use of the opportunity by becoming self employed after the training, stressing that no government had the capacity to provide 100% employment to the people.
“I always feel pained when I receive phone calls from some people looking for jobs. I know I cannot sincerely provide employment to everybody. What I believe I can do is to create opportunities for people to realise their potentials through this measure,” he added.
