Thai Permanent Secretary of ICT Chaiyan Peungkiatpairote unveiled the update on the ASEAN e-Government strategic action plan to integrate collaboration and government e-services amongst the member nations.

Thailand’s Ministry of ICT was appointed by the ASEAN member countries to lead the panel on the development of the regional e-government plan related especially to logistic and free movement of labours.

The objective is to connect and integrate government e-services of member countries paving way to future enhancement in the same direction.

Therefore, the Thai MICT recently organised a workshop on ‘Developing ASEAN e-Government Strategic Action Plan’ that gathered participants from Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam.

The members of the meeting agreed to the framework that would prioritise five key activities, which are:

  • Government provision plan to indicate vision, mission, and milestone
  • Online service component to identify 15 key e-services and applications related to logistic and free movement of labours. The key areas involve e-services that would address registration process, permits and license process, revenue generating, and social returns.
  • Telecommunication infrastructure development that would include technology used, cost of accessing to internet service, and cyber security.
  • Laws and regulation
  • ICT workforce development

“This action plan will frame and shape the ICT development in each member country paving the way to enhance logistic and labour free movement among the region in preparation for the integration of data from different e-service systems from different countries,” he said.
