IPA Assistant Training Officer Dk Erna Liana Pg Hj Suhaili told The Brunei Times that the two-week programme was under the Initiative for Mean Integration (IAI) and WA.
She said: "IPA is a training institute and is part of this Mean initiative, and that is why these countries' embassies decided to send their officers for training in Brunei. This is the third year we are holding this training programme."
According to a press statement, the programme aims to assist the new Mean member countries in their development programme by expediting greater regional economic integration, promoting equitable economic development and helping alleviate poverty.
Under the programme, Dk Erna said participants will be expected to learn how to manage IT projects and carry out effective communication.
One of the priority areas for the four countries on the IAI work plan, is information and communication technology, which covers ICT legislation and e-Governance.
Yesterday's full-day activities, organised by the Civil Service Institute (IPA), was aimed to stimulate networking among the participants.
In response to the reasons behind conducting ice-breaking activities before training the participants with IT skills, Dk Erna said: "Teambuilding, through these activities will help them to get to know each other better.
"We want them to feel comfortable with each other, boost their confidence and be motivated for the two-week programme."
She added that it would also help them network with one another once they return to their respective countries, and hoped it would also create a "close bond" between the respective countries.
The opening ceremony of the IT Management Training programme will commence today at WA.
Dk Erna said: "This programme will allow our two trainers to share their IT expertise with the participants, and enable them to gain exposure and knowledge in IT."
Upon completion of the programme, participants are expected to appreciate the various opportunities offered by the computer software application package and apply knowledge and skills within their daily management routine tasks and further develop an action plan.
Asean leaders launched the initiative for Mean integration with the objective of narrowing the development gap between the old and new member countries of Asean.
