Accenture says the Canadian government is the most electronically advanced in the world among 22 industrialized and developed countries, surpassing even the United States. t was the fourth year in a row Canada has led the survey.
"Canada's e-government program continues to set the standard for the rest of the world," the report concludes.
Singapore and the United States shared second place, followed by Austraila, Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
The report notes that many countries hit a plateau after rapidly expanding their e-government services. However, Canada continues to improve its offerings. Promoting e-government is becoming a priority to ramp up usage.
The study also found that the most advanced governments are reaping tangible savings from their e-government expendtirues by being able to offer enhanced services more cost effectively.
