The Windsor Essex Development Network has opened the Connecting Windsor-Essex
community portal, which provides citizens one-window access to local information, resources and government services, designed to improve regional infrastructure and access to e-Government services. Event organizers unveiled the logo and the portal's splash page, and explained that essentially the portal is an on-line "information utility" to connect citizens to their community. It will provide access to municipal services and information through a Community Connector feature with the eventual introduction of on-line opinion polls, suggestion boxes and discussion areas. The portal will also offer a secure professional planning calendar that will allow community organizations and agencies to plan events around one another.
