“Gangnam’s e-government began in 1995 by setting up a computer room and LAN network. Since then it has received local and international recognition, winning many awards and serving as a benchmark for government innovation.” said Shin Yeon-hee, Mayor of Gangnam-gu Office.
Gangnam authorities have just established the city surveillance system. A district-wide broadband network was introduced last year.
“The broadband has reduced the ever-increasing administrative work and the CCTV circuit rental fee, while improving the communication”, explained Ms. Shin.
Among this the upcoming projects, there are: internet phone system, integrated server virtualisation for data processing, and enhanced security solution will not only improve work efficiency and residents’ satisfaction but also form the foundation of better e-government and information protection. The disctrict plans to complete them by 2014.
