Beating the United States, China and Japan, South Korea had the highest levels of “access, usage and skills.” Scandinavian countries follow closely behind South Korea; with Sweden, Iceland, Denmark and Finland trailing the advanced Asian economy.
Despite having the largest number of Internet users, China is ranked 80th based on its ICT (Information & Communication Technology) competency, according to ITU. The United States was ranked 17th.
From Reuters: “The ‘mobile miracle’ is putting ICT services within reach of even the most disadvantaged people and communities. Our challenge now is to replicate that success in broadband,” the ITU’s Secretary-General Hamadoun Toure said in the report.
