Speaking separately at Kambangwa Secondary School, Dar es Salaam, the teachers said they believe the system will act as a catalyst towards better academic performance as well as offload teachers' heaving burden of teaching.
Kambangwa Secondary School is the first institution in Tanzania to be connected with the NICTBB initiative which is powered by Vodacom Tanzania network. "We believe that this system will change the current teaching situation tremendously.
For instance, it shall do away with the process of writing notes on chalkboards for teachers and also writing notes in books for students," said Rehema Selemani, a teacher at the school.
The school's Academic Master, Kidago Msami, said that this technological development will not only bring new tactics in teaching for teachers but also increase the accessibility of studying materials to students through internet hence counter attack books shortage which faces most of the schools in the country.
Shortage of books has been a big challenge to this country's education sector. However, this new system will give access to any information that is available in books but over the internet.
We also take pride as being part of the digital world," noted Kidago. Mr Yesaya Mwakifulefule, Head of Vodacom Foundation, said: "Vodacom is committed to support any initiative aimed at uplifting academics performance."
