Smart and future cities of Oman aim to provide a high standard of sustainable living in line with Oman Vision 2040. In the renewed era of Oman's renaissance, Sultan Haitham City is a model for a futuristic city. The Sultanate of Oman is working to keep pace with the latest trends in urban planning that highlights the use of technology for smart living.

Future smart city projects are designed to be innovative models that combine technology and sustainability technologies for intelligent transport systems, big data management and integrated electronic services, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens.

Sultan Haitham City was engineered to achieve sustainable environmental balance by using solar energy, waste-to-energy production systems and recycling sewage water.

Jamal al Hadi, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, mentioned that Sultan Haitham City is an attractive investment destination due to its geographical and strategic location in the Sultanate of Oman, its modern and sustainable trends in planning, design and construction and the great demand for ownership .

Smart cities are one of the main axes for achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040, as they are an important step towards improving the quality of life, enhancing sustainability, attracting investments and diversifying the Omani economy. According to experts, smart cities contribute to improving the efficiency of resource use and enhancing the digital economy, which contributes significantly to environmental and social sustainability.

They witness the ideal use of resources through technology, which enhances the efficiency of services provided to citizens. Smart cities also contribute to enhancing security and safety through the use of modern technologies for continuous monitoring, which enhances the urban environment and reduces security risks.

Oman Vision 2040 also seeks to achieve sustainable development through innovation and technology. So, in Oman this type of city is characterised by integrating technical innovation with local culture, which enables the achievement of sustainable development, by providing smart services including smart transport, renewable energy and integrated infrastructure.

Other prominent smart city projects in the Sultanate of Oman is the Duqm Smart City project, which aims to use modern technologies to improve services and infrastructure like Internet of Things (IoT). The projects also include smart projects such as rider apps and smart traffic management.

These smart cities foster economic diversification as smart cities attract foreign investments and support emerging sectors such as technology and services. These cities also contribute to creating a diverse economic environment capable of adapting to global changes. In addition, they are not limited to strengthening the economy, but also contribute to developing human capital, as they provide an inspiring environment that stimulates talents and enhances digital skills that are essential to keep pace with rapid technological development.

This national project is linked to the Sultanate of Oman's ambition to keep pace with digital and technical progress based on the lofty vision of our beloved leader His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik who has given special attention to digital projects and its contribution to sustainable development.
