The South Al Sharqiyah Governorate signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Omantel in the field of communications, which includes exchange of experiences in related fields, including the support and implementation of the digital transformation programme in the Governorate.
The MoU was signed by Dr Yahya bin Badr al Ma'awali, Governor South Al Sharqiyah and Talal bin Said al Maamari, CEO of Omantel.
The memorandum includes exploring opportunities for cooperation in many fields including communications infrastructure, information technology, mobile communications solutions for business, marketing and sustainability programmes.
It also includes a study to develop the technologies used in the development projects implemented by the units affiliated with the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, including the uses of the 5th Gen network, smart phone applications, smart monitoring systems, Internet of Things and the provision of smart city services and solutions.
Dr Yahya bin Badr a Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, said in a statement, “The signing MoU comes within the framework of cooperation between the Governorate Omante, with the aim of meeting the needs of activities and businesses in the Governorate, enhancing cooperation in marketing and promotional field and exchanging knowledge and experiences in various fields.
“We seek, through this agreement, to discover opportunities related to digital transformation, with the aim of accelerating its implementation in the Governorate, in order to enable it with smart communication services and high-quality technical solutions, which in turn is reflected in improving the quality of digital services provided to its beneficiaries, and improving the quality and efficiency of institutional performance,” Al Maawali added.
Talal bin Said al Maamari, CEO of Omantel, said, “The signing of MoU with South Al Sharqiyah Governorate reflects the company's leadership in digital transformation programmes in the country. It will also contribute to raising the level of readiness of communication and information solutions in the Governorate, and will enable us to explore opportunities for cooperation to develop the infrastructure for development projects in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah, in addition to opening up broad horizons for cooperation by providing systems, communication technologies and advanced information to the Governorate.”
