Transforming Government since 2001
The National Digital Certification Center takes part in this year Salalah Tourism Festival 2014, making its first public presence in Dhofar.

Owned by the Information Technology Authority (ITA), the center promotes its Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) through explaining the essence of this technology, its benefits, security aspects and future rewards.

Launched in December 2013, the PKI comes in line with the ongoing eGovernment Transformation Plan in order to create a solid foundation for electronic authentication services as well as eSignature to complete eServices in a safe, secured and trusted way.

Citizens, residents and business owners may now get their PKI-enabled ID cards from the Directory General of Civil Status at Royal Oman Police. Another option might be PKI-enabled SIM cards from the Sultanate’s mobile operators (Omantel & Nawras). The next step would be activating the registry at the available e.oman kiosks at various locations such as shopping malls and some selected public areas. When activated, users can enjoy using some of the available eGov services giving the possibility to sign documents and prove identity electronically from anywhere and at any time.

PKI presence in Salalah Tourism Festival 2014 will remain until the end of the festival which is taking place at the Municipality Entertainment Center in Salalah. This year’s partaking comes under the theme: ‘Enjoy the Digital Life Experience’, as the ITA’s pavilion ensures a host of various activities in order to give insights about the authority and its initiatives aiming toward more awareness about the national strategy of e.oman as well as the eGovernment transformation plan.
