Transforming Government since 2001
The eGovernment Transformation Plan was formally announced on Sunday at a symposium organised by Information Technology Authority (ITA) at Al Bustan Palace hotel, under the patronage of Sheikh Fadl bin Mohammed bin Ahmed al Harthy, secretary general of the Council of Ministers.

The symposium was organised by ITA as part of its efforts to promote e-Oman strategy and e-government services, determine national skills and capacity-building in the IT field and measure the level of preparation in terms of infrastructure.

Dr Salim Sultan al Ruzaiqi, CEO, ITA, said, “The aim of the plan is to increase the effectiveness of government services electronically. It focuses on the integration of electronic services, which can be provided seamlessly on the Internet, so that its available at all times.”

The ceremony witnessed several presentations, starting with the one by guest speaker John P Roberts, research vice president of Gartner's CIO and Executive Leadership research team, which focused on the importance of e-government transformation.

Maged Boulos, in-charge of strategic and planning division, ITA, spoke of the tools and indicators that measure e-government transformation.

Khalid Sulaiman al Siyabi, consultant in the infrastructure and e-services division, ITA, explained the stages of the plan, which have been set within a specific time frame.
